Dr. Weissman has been practicing neurology in Atlanta since 1989. He is board-certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with additional qualifications in Clinical Neurophysiology. Dr. Weissman has a particular interest in epilepsy and sleep disorders. He also sees patients in general neurology including Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, muscle disorders, headache and peripheral neuropathy.
Dr. Weissman received an A.B. in chemistry at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY in 1974 and subsequently received a Ph.D. in biochemistry and an M.D. at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, in 1982. He completed a residency in neurology in 1989 at University Hospitals of Cleveland. After completing a Neurophysiology fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, in 1989-1990, he joined the faculty and was involved in research and clinical activities, particularly with epilepsy, sleep disorders, and disorders of metabolism in …neurology. He joined Neurology and Headache Specialists (currently known as Neurology Specialists of Decatur) of Atlanta in 2001.
Dr. Weissman is an active member in the American Academy of Neurology, the American Epilepsy Society and the American Sleep Disorders Association. He and his wife, Barbara Weissman, M.D., a pediatric neurologist, and two children live in Atlanta. Dr. Weissman enjoys road cycling, playing the cello and wildlife photography.
