Dr. Kim Larson
A native of Tacoma, Washington, Dr. Larson earned his dental degree from Northwestern University Dental School in Chicago, Illinois in 1983. He continued his studies in the specialty of Prosthodontics at the same school, graduating in 1986. (A prosthodontist is a dentist who has completed two additional years of training after dental school to become a specialist in replacing missing teeth and restoring broken down teeth.)
Dr. Larson’s career has been distinguished by his dedication to continuing education, both as a student and a speaker. He has lectured on various topics ranging from articulators to case presentation. He has addressed The Pierce County Dental Society, Young Dentists of Pierce County, The Chicago Dental Society and the Kois Symposium. Some of the most recent continuing education courses Dr. Larson has attended include: The complete Kois Center Curriculum. The Kois Center is a world class advanced restorative and …implant dentistry training center.Also Dr. Larson completed the Ickert Teaching Center curriculum on implants. The Ickert Teaching Center is a world class advanced dental curriculum that trains dentists the art of restoring and placement of implants.
Keeping up with the latest advances in dentistry is important to Dr. Larson. He does this by maintaining memberships in professional groups such as the American Dental Association, the Washington State Dental Association, the American College of Prosthodontists, and the Washington State Society of Prosthodontists. Locally he is a Kois Center Clinical Instructor, an active member of several study clubsand a member of DOCS, Dental Organization for Conscious sedation. Dr. Larson has applied his knowledge by using medical models for comprehensive diagnosis and treatment, in addition Dr. Larson utilizes lasers to manage patient tissue conditions as well as CAT scans and computers to help guide implant placement. The Gendex Conebeam CT 3D digital imaging is a recent addition to our office. This state-of-the art scan can be done in our office by our trained clinical partners in a matter of seconds. 3D x-rays yield a wealth of information that is used to precisely plan for treatment before any procedures begin. Better planning leads to more predictable treatment results. We are pleased to provide this latest technology to better serve our patients and referring Doctors.
