The Gynecologic Oncology Division at The James Cancer Hospital, The Ohio State University has a favorable national reputation for excellence in patient care and a cutting edge clinical and translational research. Our clinical care program provides the full spectrum clinical care, with excellence in both cancer surgery (radical and minimally invasive) and chemotherapy. Our practice is unique in that the 6 faculty members of the Gyn Onc division completed there fellowship training at different institutions (M.D. Anderson, UCLA, Washington University, Yale, Johns Hopkins and The Ohio State University). Despite our diversity of subspecialty training, our practice is very harmonious and the level of care outstanding. Many of our faculty serve or have served in leadership positions in many of our professional organizations, including the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the American Congress (College) of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American College of Surgeons, the …Gynecologic Oncology Group Foundation, and the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists. Our primary goal is excellence in patient care and our clinical research program is focused on delivering “tomorrow’s treatments”” today. While our focus is on cure or improved survival, we emphasize treatment algorithms that allow for preservation of the patient’s quality of life during their active treatment and post treatment phases. I was born in Canada and grew up on a dairy farm. My undergraduate (where I played collegiate ice hockey) and medical education was in Canada. After fellowship training in Gyn Onc, I remained on faculty at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson, moving to The Ohio State University in 1988. My professional and personal life have been totally fulfilling. I love my profession, especially my patients and the opportunity to develop better treatments for the future. Not only is my professional life dedicated to women, my wife and I have three daughters, two are physicians.”
