The first visit is primarily to acquaint your child with the dentist and to review basic home oral care. We recommend that this initial visit occur around the child’s first birthday. For older children, the first visit also involves a thorough review of his or her medical history, an examination and cleaning, and any necessary X-ray films. Everything we do will be clearly communicated to both you and your child. Parents are encouraged to accompany their children into the treatment area. This helps to ease the child’s anxiety and allows Dr. Lee to discuss findings and treatment recommendations with you. However, we do ask that you assume the role of silent partner in order to help Dr. Lee establish a cooperative, trusting relationship with your child. Top

Preparing your child for his/her first visit involves simply telling your child a few days in advance that he/she will be visiting the dentist. If your child has any questions, answer …enthusiastically. Being positive in your own attitude will go a long way to making your child’s visit a pleasant one.  You can help your child view dental visits as an important part of growing up and being responsible for their own oral health. Prevention of dental problems
Prevention of dental problems begins early in a child’s life. Good oral hygiene habits and regular dental visits are integral parts of preventing problems. Our staff will form a partnership with you and your child to assist with oral hygiene instruction and dietary recommendations as well as scheduling regular exams and cleanings. Top

Dr. Lee graduated from Columbia’s School of Dental and Oral Surgery in 2000. He attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey for his specialty training in pediatric dentistry. He has worked in private practice in New Jersey. Top
