Dr. Merchant completed her Bachelor of Science degree in biology at Southwestern University where she was a member of the Alpha Chi National Society and TriBeta Biological Honor Society. Afterwards, she went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Baylor College of Dentistry, graduating in 2010. During dental school, she was part of the Omicron Kappa Epsilon Honor Society and was selected as one of five students to be part of the Baylor Honor Program. She also participated in dental mission trips to Mexico, Guatemala, and Nicaragua.
Dr. Merchant completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, Louisiana. While there, she expanded her knowledge in complex treatment planning, sedation dentistry, full mouth reconstructions, dental implants, and advanced surgical techniques. Devoted to keeping up with the latest advancements in the dental industry, Dr. Merchant maintains active memberships in many dental organizations. …She is a proud Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD). Only about 6% of general dentists achieve this award, so you can ensure your smile is in caring and qualified hands. Dr. Merchant continues to give back by participating in both international and local dental mission trips. Dr. Merchant has served in the Air Force for over 13 years and is currently a Major in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. She continues to serve our country by providing dental exams to deploying troops at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Ft. Worth.
Known for her big heart and caring nature, Dr. Merchant truly enjoys helping people overcome any fear or anxiety they have about the dentist. She takes the time to understand their concerns in order to tailor their treatment plan for a stress-free experience. Her oldest daughter is special needs, and she truly enjoys working with and treating special needs patients.
When she’s not helping her community attain their best smiles, Dr. Merchant enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, working out, and studying new techniques in dentistry.
