Dr. Luis A. Dibos, is a board certified Cardiothoracic surgeon, also boarded in general surgery, who has been an attending Cardiac surgeon at MUMH since July of 1996. He was raised in Baltimore, the son of two physicians, and graduated from the Gilman School. He received his general surgery training at MUMH from 1989-1993, and went on to do a Cardiac Surgery fellowship at SUNY upstate, in Syracuse, followed by a chief resident year in Cardiac Surgery, at the Cleveland Clinic, where he received extensive training in reoperative cardiac surgery, ventricular assist devices, and mitral valve repair.
His special interests include minimally invasive valve surgery, Maze procedure for atrial fibrillation, and beating heart, or off-pump bypass procedures. He has performed over 5000 cardiac surgical cases, including close to 2000 beating heart bypass procedures, and is considered a regional expert in the off pump technique. He is also involved in the TAVR program, which has performed close …to 150 procedures since its inception in 2012.
Dr. Dibos has repeatedly been named a Baltimore magazine Top Doctor for Cardiac Surgery, most recently from 2010-2014. He has been involved in clinical research, and is quite proud of the team approach offered at MUMH for care of their Cardiac Surgery patients. “The operation is but a portion of what it takes to combat cardiac disease. The pre and post operative care provided by our nurses ,NPs, PAs, Intensivists, and care associates, contributes greatly to our excellent outcomes.â€
