Dr. Mariah Dermody

Mariah is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practioner (PMHNP-BC). Mariah began her career as an RN working in the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit. She quickly became very interested in neuroscience and involved herself in research projects. The intrigue of neuroscience and the passion for connection with patients as a bedside RN led Mariah to pursue a career as a Psychiatric Nurse Practioner. Mariah hopes to build strong connections with her clients while also using her knowledge of neuroscience to offer assistance through medications, diagnosis, talk therapy, and health education. Mariah has experience working with clients of all backgrounds and desires to provide a holistic approach that encompasses the individual’s entire experience. Mariah gained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at James Madison University in 2016. She has experience working at the bedside in various settings in the metropolitan D.C. area over the last 6 years. She obtained her Master of …Science as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practioner from George Washington University in May of 2022. Working in the D.C. area, Mariah has experience working with individuals of many different cultural backgrounds. Mariah plans to incorporate holistic, culturally competent, and person-centered techniques into her prescriber role. Mariah’s experience as a bedside nurse has molded her into the person she is today. She has held the hands of dying patients, delivered life-altering news, and continuously fought to provide the best care for her patients in difficult times. Nursing is a profession that provides care and compassion for the whole individual and the human experience. She is prepared to use her experiences at the bedside to understand and provide care compassionately with her clients in her new role as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practioner.
