Mark B. Snyder, D.M.D. is an internationally known periodontist and implant surgeon whose practice and research emphasizes the importance oral health plays in an individual’s well being. He regularly lectures on implant dentistry to dentists and other healthcare professionals throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.
Building beautiful smiles is more than Dr. Snyder’s specialty; it is his passion. He has offices in Philadelphia and midtown Manhattan where his practice is devoted to Periodontics, Oral Plastic Surgery and Implant Dentistry.  The Philadelphia Daily News named him “Periodontist to the Stars” because of the numerous celebrities and politicians he treats.
Dr. Snyder graduated from Bowdoin College. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania and trained in Anatomic, Surgical and Forensic Pathology at the Philadelphia General Hospital and Office of the Medical Examiner of Philadelphia. He also trained in …Oral Medicine and Pathology at Guy’s Hospital in London and received speciality certification in Periodontology and Oral Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Snyder has been a member of the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania since 1977 where he is currently Clinical Associate Professor of Periodontology. He is also Medical Director and Director of Periodontal Research at Osteohealth, Clinical Associate Professor of Periodontics and Implant Dentistry at New York University, and Consultant at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. His past academic and hospital appointments have included Director of Periodontics and Oral Medicine at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia; Senior House Officer at Guy’s Hospital in London, England; and Director of Oral Diagnosis at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.
As the Consultant Forensic Odontologist to the Office of the Medical Examiner of Philadelphia and Delaware County, PA, Dr. Snyder has testified as an expert witness in homicide cases involving bite mark evidence. He also consults for pharmaceutical and dental product companies by serving on Dental Advisory Boards.
Dr. Snyder is active in many professional societies and serves as a Board Member of the Northeastern Society of Periodontists. He is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and a Fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Oral Medicine and Fellow of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. He has authored over twenty-five original articles and abstracts in scientific journals, as well as lay publications and textbook chapters. Dr Snyder has also been honored with the Alumni Award of Merit from the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Dental Medicine.
