Dr. Mark Phillip Karavan, MD

Dr. Karavan was born in Conway, South Carolina and grew up in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He attended the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina to receive his B.S. in biology and then the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina for his M.D.
Dr. Karavan also received training at the Medical University of South Carolina for his Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Invasive and Noninvasive Cardiology. He joined Cardiology Gastroenterology in 1992. Dr. Karavan began doing heart catheterization’s at Grand Regional Medical Center at that time, thus starting the heart center.
