I am interested in problems related to mood, anxiety, sleep, sex, appetite, energy level, memory and clarity of thinking, addiction to opioids, alcohol, food. I believe in treating the whole person: some of the changes in mood, anxiety or thinking are related to the medical problems. When treating addiction, I perfectly realize that some people need help with achieving complete abstinence, and some need just help with control of the use, Most of my patients with problems related to addiction are highly functioning otherwise.
Very often, medications can be combined with medical food, supplements, herbs, etc. In some cases, fine tuning of hormones does more than antidepressants. I am comfortable prescribing many of the specialized medications, such as MAOIs, Xyrem, buprenorphine (Suboxone, etc). Addyi; I lecture internationally on using Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) for a variety of medical and emotional problems. Some of the recipes I offer are formulated for the specific patient; …they are not mass-produced, but could be compounded in a specialized pharmacy.
