He graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and remained at University Hospital for a residency and chief residency in Internal Medicine. He completed a fellowship in Rheumatology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the sub-specialty Board of Rheumatology.
