Dr. Michael Christopher Russonella, DO

Dr. Russonella is the founding physician at the North Jersey Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Institute. “I am committed to excellence in providing the highest quality orthopedic care possible while striving to return patients to an active, pain-free lifestyle,” says Dr. Russonella. After earning a medical degree at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Russonella received extensive training in joint replacement, trauma and sports medicine at Peninsula Hospital Center (Far Rockaway, NY). The facility is an affiliate of the North Shore/LIJ Health System, which provides orthopedic care to the New York Jets, New York Islanders, New York Dragons of the AFL, Merchant Marine Academy and many other New York metro area local high schools. Dr. Russonella completed a one-year fellowship program at the American Sports Medicine Institute (Birmingham, AL), an internationally acclaimed orthopedic care and research facility, which routinely treats world-class professional, college and …high school athletes.
