Dr. Kleeman hails from Southern Maine. He completed medical school at the University of New England, in Biddeford, Maine in 2000 after undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Vermont. He completed his general surgery internship and urology residency at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical College of Virginia in 2005. Following this, he completed an ASTS fellowship in kidney and pancreas transplant surgery at the Cleveland Clinic.
Since completing training, Dr. Kleeman has been in private practice in Port Jefferson and Patchogue, and on active staff at Mather, St. Charles, and Long Island Community Hospital (Brookhaven). He was formerly on staff at North Shore University Hospital as an attending transplant surgeon. He is engaged in teaching, and has been a clinical associate professor of surgery at NYCOM, and has been published in numerous peer-reviewed publications.
When not working, Dr. Kleeman enjoys time at home with his wife and five children. He is an avid …boater and enjoys sailing, motoring and jet skiing on the Great South Bay. He is an advocate for universal health care, and co-founded the first completely free health care clinic in Maine that provided free health care to the community for 23 years.
Dr. Kleeman is board-certified by the American Board of Urology, and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He treats all aspects of general urology including minimally invasive procedures utilizing laser surgery, laparoscopy, and robotic procedures in the AUCNY Centereach office.
