Dr. Schaefer is board certified in adult psychiatry and has been practicing for over 16 years.
Dr. Schaefer’s practice focuses on medication management, offered in conjunction with supportive therapy and elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy. Most follow-up visits are 30 minutes, and if additional therapy is needed, a therapist may be brought into the care team to provide the best outcome.
She received her medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE, and completed her adult psychiatry residency at the Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, OR. She then moved to New Haven, CT to complete a forensic psychiatry fellowship at Yale University. She worked as a staff psychiatrist at the Atrium Health system for over 16 years.
While Dr. Schaefer has treated a wide variety of patients, her primary focus is treating depression, anxiety disorders and OCD.
