Dr. MO Dattu, MD is a BOARD-CERTIFIED PSYCHIATRISTDr. Dattu is a Psychiatry Specialist at Psychiatric Practice, LLC, and has over 25 years of experience in the medical field. He graduated from St. George’s University School Of Medicine in 1998. His office accepts new patients and telehealth appointments.Professional Statement Dr. Mo is happy that you have decided to review his profile. It’s difficult for most people to admit they may need help with their mental health concerns. Whether it’s depression, anxiety, very poor focus, self-esteem issues, or other problems, his aim is to understand you, not just to medicate you. Dr. Mo’s practice focuses on adults between the age of 20 to 55 who are open to gaining a deeper understanding of their issues. My practice does not take any kind of insurance so please bear this in mind as you read on and if you’re considering making an appointment.Dr.Mo’s appointments are fairly detailed, as he says “The time is yours and so I hope for us to make …the most of it”. The initial appointment is 90 mins, he explores much of your present and past functioning including social, occupational, and interpersonal aspects. He typically refers patients who struggle with eating disorders, psychosis, gender identity challenges, court-mandated treatment, parenting evaluations, custody requirements, disability, SSDI, or substance use disorders. Although I do treat ADHD I do not prescribe Adderall or Vyvanse. He also does not prescribe ongoing doses of Xanax, Ativan, Klonopin, Valium, Ambien, or Lunesta. He does not work with any insurance and encourages you to check with your carrier about “out of network” coverage. An excellent program,https://reimbursify.com/ , makes claims submissions extremely easy. Dr.Mo looks forward to working with you in helping you make progress toward a healthier life. he’s been very fortunate in that several colleagues have referred their own family members and he openly collaborates with therapists if you’re working with one. Dr.Mo also asks you to provide your email when you respond as he would like to send you a more detailed questionnaire and more information about his practice. He is billed at $65 when you book whether you decide to pursue treatment with him or not. Dr. Mo asks that you please take this into consideration if you decide. What New Clients/Patients Need to Know About Working with Dr. Mo As a reminder, Dr.Mo does not take any insurance so if you prefer to use your insurance please note that in your initial search and you will be directed to providers who you can work with. He is open to your questions and opinions and tries to reach collaborative decisions that promote your wellness and are in your best medical interest. Dr.Mo is very interactive and will ask a lot of questions and use standardized rating scales that both you and Dr.Mo will complete together, which provide an excellent snapshot of where you are at the moment and also for tracking progress. It is an excellent tool that’s often underutilized. He works with patients to help them understand their own goals, whether emotional, physical, social, or professional. We discuss nutrition when that is essential as well. Together we work to create a feasible plan that we keep you accountable for executing. When difficulties arise, we try to understand them and guide you to develop the necessary skills to work through them. Life is not easy but it doesn’t have to feel impossible. The prescribing of a medication regimen is an imperfect science and one cannot guarantee that the first choice will always be the right choice. At times it can get frustrating as we work through the process. If warranted he also provides genetic testing (Genesight) which itself is not perfect but may give some ideas about which medications might be better options. He usually reserves this after there have been 3 medication failures. The testing itself is covered by insurance but you’d have to call the to ask them what your copay would be as it varies by an insurance carrier.Patients who are initially in serious crisis are asked to seek emergency treatment at their nearest emergency room or to call 911. Another very helpful resource for those in urgent crisis who cannot wait to be seen for an appointment is to call the Montgomery County Emergency Services whose number can be found online. The initial steps after responding to his profile here and including your email in it are that he will send you more information about his practice including details about his fees. Once questions are clarified and he feels that he has the experience to work with you we will arrange your initial appointment which is 90 mins. Following that the frequency of appointments will be determined by the progress we make but generally it may be every 2 to 4 wks for the first few appointments but eventually every 2 months. As you can imagine it’s quite variable but I’ve been blessed that all his patients have been very understanding and collaborative in the process and have thanked him for the care and time his taken with them.As you have read above, he is billed a $65 booking fee when you first schedule an appointment with me even if you change your mind before he will reach back out to you to confirm your interest. Please be mindful of this as there are many providers here who have various strengths and so taking a few moments to consider the information provided before booking would be greatly appreciated.EducationSt. George’s University, Doctor of MedicinePennsylvania Psychiatric Institute, Residency in General Adult PsychiatryDrexel University, Philadelphia, Hahnemann University Hospital, Internship in Internal Medicine Board certificationsAmerican Board of Psychiatry and NeurologyPsychiatry (American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology)Professional membershipsAmerican Psychiatric AssociationOut-of-pocket pricing and assistance offeredInitial session rate: $400 for 90 minutesOngoing session rate: $150 for 30 minutesAdditional out-of-pocket assistance: YesAdditional information regarding payments and coverageA more detailed breakdown of fees:Dr.Mo does not take any kind of insurance at all including Medicaid or Medicare. He encourages all prospective patients to check with their insurance carrier to see what they will be reimbursed so there are no unexpected surprises or misunderstandings. The fee structure is as follows:The initial evaluation is 90 mins and the fee is $400. Follow-up evaluations are 30 to 60 mins, every 1 to 2 months depending on how stable you are and the fee is $150 to $250. Any phone calls are billed as appointment time as follows: 15 mins is $85, and more than that is $150. The time charged on phone calls is because I still have to document the conversation and any medical decision-making.Further Fee Breakdown, as well as the duration, is as follows 90 min $40060 min $30045 min $22530 min $15015 min $100If you anticipate needing very frequent appointments and support in between appointments please take the expense into consideration. Although Dr.Mo often communicates with his patients via text messages, these are reserved strictly for requests to change appointments or if a medication refill is needed. If there are questions of a clinical nature then good clinical practice requires an appointment where concerns can be discussed, appropriately documented, and alternate treatments considered. Dr. Mo works alone as he has no staff and therefore carries all the administrative responsibilities himself, including time collaborating with other doctors and therapists, filling out forms, typing letters, answering emails, texts, and phone calls from patients, and also working on the weekend. His fees are set to reflect this work that continues even after the appointment is over. Therefore, he cannot offer a sliding scale at this time. Prior authorization for medication coverage by insurance may arise and is a very time-consuming affair requiring electronic forms being filled out, documents being sent, and at times phone calls. A Note From Dr. Mo – “Thank you for your understanding of how complicated it can be to run a private practice”.
