Raised in Indiana; BA in English 1980 from Vassar College in New York; MD 1985 from Indiana University; Psychiatry training at UC Irvine, graduated 1989. Board Certified in Psychiatry in 1992. My first five years of practice were in west Los Angeles from 1989-1994. Moved to Napa County in 1994 to work at Saint Helena Hospital for 7 years. Then I struck out with my own private practice, combined with a half time position for Sonoma County Mental Health in Santa Rosa. I worked there for 6 years with outpatients suffering from schizophrenia. In January, 2008 I moved into a half time position at Napa State Hospital, doing forensic psychiatry for the State of California. I am still there. It was in this position that I testified in a controversial case in Sacramento in about September, 2008. The judge publicly accused me of committing perjury, and this sadly is what people now see when they google my name. The testimony I gave was fully supported by my colleagues and the …administration at the hospital. Otherwise, I have been medical director for over 12 years at a Crestwood Angwin. This is a 53 bed residential facility for the severely mentally ill known as a Mental Health Rehabilitation Center. We get very ill patients under LPS conservatorship from all over Northern California. This has made me an expert in treating Schizophrenia. I am there on Wednesday mornings.
