Dr. Omar Baker joined Riverside Pediatric Group in 2011 and is Riverside’s Chief Officer of Clinical Operations. He cares for patients at Riverside%u2019s Headquarters in Secaucus six days a week. Dr. Baker is proud to carry on the family legacy of caring for Northern Jersey%u2019s most valuable patients %u2013 its children, started by his father some 35 years ago. As one of Riverside%u2019s bright young stars, Dr. Baker brings a stellar academic and training background along with an unparalleled passion to provide the best care possible to the children of Riverside families.
Dr. Baker received his undergraduate and medical degrees from The George Washington University in Washington D.C, as a graduate of a very elite and selective combined Bachelor/M.D. program. He graduated Magna Cum Laude before proceeding to do his pediatric training at the prestigious NYU Medical Center in Manhattan, NY. During both his second and third year as a resident, Dr. Baker was granted the Inpatient …Resident of the Year Award by his attendings physicians. He is Board Certified in Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. During his training at NYU Medical Center, Dr. Baker developed a keen interest in Pediatric Critical/Intensive Care and honed his skills in caring for some of New York%u2019s sickest children in the Pediatric ICU. It is this special interest and focus on pediatric critical care that makes Dr. Baker such a wonderful resource for Riverside patients, as he is available late hours in the Secaucus headquarters for all Riverside patients throughout Northern New Jersey who require after-hours acute care.
While Dr. Baker%u2019s expertise is available after-hours for the extended Riverside family, his first love is providing continuity of care to his regular, established families during regular office hours in Secaucus. With regard to his philosophy on primary care, Dr. Baker explains, %u201CYes, when a patient comes to the office during late, after-hours, and they are very sick, it%u2019s great to be able to provide acute care to the patient and help the family avoid an ER trip or even worse. But nothing beats getting to know a patient from birth through their development and into college, and their family becoming our family. I have the best job in the world!%u201D
