Dr. Parul J. Jayakar, MD

Dr. Parul Jayakar is board certified in clinical genetics, cytogenetics and pediatrics. She is the director of the hospital’s state-of-the-art Cytogenetics Laboratory, and has extensive experience in evaluating children with suspected neurogenetic and metabolic disorders. She collaborates with experts around the world in the diagnosis and research of rare, complex, genetic conditions. Dr. Jayakar is also a consultant for the hospital’s Craniofacial Center. She earned her medical degree from the University of Delhi, India, and completed postgraduation training in pediatrics at the Royal College of Physicians, India. She also has a master’s degree in human genetics from the University of Manitoba, Canada. She completed her pediatric residency at Miami Children’s Hospital. Dr. Jayakar has published numerous professional papers, and is a member of several professional organizations.
Dr. Jayakar provides comprehensive coordinated clinical and metabolic genetic inpatient and outpatient …services to patients with seizures, undiagnosed intellectual disabilities, autism, suspected genetic syndromes, dysmorphism, inborn errors of metabolism, abnormal state newborn screens, chromosome abnormalities, neurocutaneous syndromes, multiple congenital anomalies, ambiguous genitalia and progressive neurodegenerative diseases.
