Dr. R. Duane Cook, MD

R. Duane Cook, MD, is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon who has performed more than 10,000 heart surgeries since establishing his career in North Lake County 26 years ago. Dr. Cook earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He then entered the U.S. Army, where he completed his general surgery residency at Brooke Army Medical Center. Dr. Cook served as a general surgeon in Landstuhl, Germany, later deploying to Saudi Arabia with the 31st Combat Support Hospital during Desert Storm. He completed a residency in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and holds a Master of Medical Management from Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Cook has developed world-class open-heart programs in multiple communities throughout Central Florida and helped establish a heart surgery program in Tanzania, Africa.
