Dr. Radhakrishnan Ramaraj, MD

 Dr. Ramaraj is an interventional cardiologist who specializes in venous, arterial and coronary interventions. He came to the Carolina Heart and Leg Center from the Yale University of Connecticut in New Haven where he completed his interventional cardiology fellowship in 2014. His special interests are in chronic limb ischemia, varicose veins, deep venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism management. He did his training for vascular imaging and interpretation at Brigham and Women’s Hospital affiliated with Harvard University.
Dr. Ramaraj earned his medical degree from the Madurai Medical College, India. He completed his residency in internal medicine from National Health Services, UK and University of Arizona, Tucson. He completed his cardiology fellowship at Cedars Sinai Medical Center affiliated with UCLA in Los Angeles, California.
Board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, echocardiography, nuclear medicine, vascular imaging …and cardiac CT imaging, Dr.Ramaraj has received many awards for excellence in cardiovascular research from, among others, the Johns Hopkins University, University of Arizona, American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians, Southern Medical Association and American Medical Association.
He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians. He has served on many scientific journals as a reviewer and also in grant committees such as Wellcome Trust, UK. His research interests are wide and varied and he has served as an investigator for many clinical trials.
Dr. Ramaraj has authored more than 50 publications including original articles, book chapters, reviews, and editorials, as well as many abstracts
