My comprehensive approach to the practice of dermatology reflects well my several years of prior service in family practice and internal medicine…and enacts the attitude that your skin is more than an ‘island of tissue’ which can be separated (like a giant biopsy) from the whole of your body; more than simply a ‘packaging’ that does not reflect the internal content or integrity of the individual. Rather, I see the skin as a wonderful ‘window’ into the health of the whole person. I will carefully observe your skin…however, I will not typically be a ‘one look, one diagnosis, one Rx. physician.’ Alternatively, my approach typically will be to review the full range of contributing causes from internal medicine issues such as hormones, and nutrition to issues of the environment and lifestyle. Anticipate that your first visit may involve a prolonged time and a profound conversation.
My special interests and enthusiasms include: (1) acne and acne rosacea, (2) skin cancer treatment by …excision, cryosurgery and stimulation of the immune system, (3) treatment of photoaging and discoloration by topical creams, nutritional interventions, cryotherapy, and light therapy including Fraxel laser and low level laser therapy which allows the skin to convert light energy into chemical energy to optimize the production of collagen and elastin, (4) dry, rough, red and eczematous skin.
