Robert J. Freishtat, MD, MPH, joined the Children’s National Medical Center Pediatric Emergency Medicine faculty in 2003, where he serves as a part-time clinician when he is not in his laboratory directing an active research program exploring gene-environment interactions in asthma. Dr. Freishtat has authored more than 22 articles and book chapters in the fields of asthma, sepsis, and emergency medicine. Additionally, he spearheaded the formation of a novel research curriculum for the Children’s National Medical Center Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship and currently serves as its director of Fellowship Research. In this role he has the opportunity to mentor fellows, residents, medical students, and undergraduates through their research experiences. In his spare time, he is an avid fan of Penn State athletics.
