Dr. Ronald Schwarz was born in New York City. He earned his medical degree from Cornell University in 1977. Dr. Schwarz then moved to Chapel Hill to complete his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He is board certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology.
He joined the group in 1985 and over the years has served on many committees dedicated to improving patient care. His clinical interests include inflammatory bowel disease, therapeutic endoscopy including ERCP, and hospital based gastrointestinal consultations.
He and his wife have one son and have recently become grandparents. He enjoys biking and traveling, as well as refereeing for local soccer games.
