Dr. Ryan H. Engel, DO

Ryan H. Engel D.O., decided to practice oncology because it encompasses all other specialties and involves supporting patients on multiple facets of care. Having had a family member with cancer, he understands the needs of both the patients and their families and that a diagnosis can take a physical and emotional toll on all involved. His goal as an oncologist is to be caring, approachable and dependable. He feels a sense of honor participating in his patient’s lives. While following stand-treatment approaches, he does individualize the care based on the needs of each patient. Ultimately, he strives to treat all those he helps as if he is taking care of his own family.
Dr. Engel is board certified in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology. He received his medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Illinois. He completed his internship and residency at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he served as Chief Resident from 2003 to 2004. He …completed his fellowship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago in hematology, medical oncology and geriatrics.
Dr. Engel received numerous awards including the Award of Excellence in Teaching; the Outstanding Teaching and Leadership award, and MVP in Compassion and Equality from Lutheran General Hospital. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology as well as the American Society of Geriatrics.
