Dr. Hassassian is a member of National Spine & Pain Centers which is the largest interventional pain specialist group in the U.S. Prior to his joining NSPC, he was the director of division of interventional pain management at the Center for Advanced Orthopedics & Pain Management. Board certified in Pain Medicine as well as in Anesthesiology, Dr. Hassassian earned his medical degree at Eastern Virginia Medical School, after which he completed an internship in General Surgery at the Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Anesthesiology at New York University (NYU) Medical Center, where he also pursued elective work at the NYU Pain Center. After completing fellowship training in Pain Medicine at the University of Maryland (UMD) Medical Center, he stayed on as a faculty member of the School of Medicine Department of Anesthesiology and served as an attending physician at the UMD Pain Center. Prior to his departure from UMD, he was an …assistant professor of Pain Medicine and Anesthesiology. He was also the principal investigator of multiple research projects focusing on the treatment of different pain disorders. Preeminent in his field, Dr. Hassassian has authored various articles and presentations on a multitude of pain disorders and various treatment strategies. He has extensive experience in all aspects of multi-disciplinary pain management including the treatment of acute, chronic, benign, and malignant pain through the use of neuroablative, implantable, radiofrequency, endoscopy, and minimally invasive surgery techniques in outpatient and inpatient settings. An advocate for timely, compassionate patient care, Dr. Hassassian has been recognized for his excellence by his colleagues and has repeatedly been selected as a Top Doctor by Washingtonian Magazine.
