Dr. Sean Young was raised in Salt Lake City. He attended the University of Utah, majoring in Materials Science and Engineering. He then moved with his wife, Marissa, to Los Angeles, where he attended the UCLA School of Dentistry. He was the recipient of numerous academic scholarships and graduated with honors, earning a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2008. Residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery brought his family to Nashville. He was awarded a Doctor of Medicine in 2011 from Vanderbilt University and completed his residency in 2014. During his training, Dr. Young has presented clinical research at national and international meetings and has two articles published in peer-reviewed journals. He also co-authored a chapter on alveolar cleft repair in Complete Cleft Care, which was published in 2014 by Thieme Medical Publishers.
