Dr. Zawahir treats a wide variety of children with gastrointestinal disorders in infants, children and teens. She obtained her training in Pediatric GI at the University Of Maryland School of Medicine, and went on to become the Director of their Fellowship program and Director of Pediatric Endoscopy and Motility at the University of Maryland Children’s Hospital. She has worked in diverse settings from University-based practices to private practice. She is experienced in endoscopic procedures for children as well as video capsule endoscopy, and motility procedures.
She is a co-author on book chapters and journal articles on gastrointestinal disorders in children. She was a recipient of a National Institutes of Health grant researching neonatal bowel inflammation, and has lectured at area hospitals on various Pediatric GI topics at area hospitals including on Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Celiac disease.
