Born and raised in Idaho, Dr. Blacker settled in Arizona to enjoy its warm weather. Dr. Blacker loves to spend time with his wife and six children; in fact, you just might see him at his children’s dance recitals and Little League games. He is active in the communities of Chandler and Tempe where he works with the Boy Scouts and his church organization. A fierce fan of the Sun Devils, Diamondbacks and Cardinals, he watches as many games as he can. He is also an avid golfer and, although his spare time is limited, he enjoys a game on any of the many golf courses around the valley.
The journey continues for Dr. Blacker as he attends workshops and courses designed to stay abreast of the future of orthodontics; all the very things that allow him to make valuable contributions to the communities of Tempe and Chandler.
Dr. Shane K. Blacker graduated from Case Western Reserve University Dental School after receiving his Bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University. Following dental school he entered and completed a general practice residency at the University Of Utah Hospital. He then pursued his orthodontic specialty training at the University of Rochester Eastman Dental Center for 2 years.
Dr. Blacker has achieved the prestigious status of diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. This is a rigorous program of testing and review that only one in four Orthodontists ever achieve. Additionally, Dr. Blacker is an active member of the American Board or Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Arizona Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, Arizona Orthodontic Society, Arizona Orthodontic Study Club and the Saguaro Dental Club. He believes that it is vital to continue updating his education by attending professional meetings, scientific lectures, and advanced education courses in the fields of orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. By staying current with advances in the field of orthodontics, Dr. Blacker is able to provide patients with both well founded, scientifically sound treatment that is up to date.
