Dr. Stephen Hill is a Licensed Psychologist with over 17 years of clinical experience in the treatment of anxiety, depressive, trauma-related, and adjustment disorders. Presenting issues often include relationship difficulties, difficulty initiating and maintaining sleep, grief and loss, irritability, feeling misunderstood, occupational burnout, inappropriate guilt, self-doubt, being overwhelmed by life’s stressors, and wanting to overcome negative thinking and depressive immobilization. Dr. Hill has a PhD in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Statistics from Florida State University, an MS in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Tennessee – Chattanooga, and a BA in Psychology from Samford University. He believes a warm, positive, and non-judgmental environment is the foundation of therapy. The cognitive-behavioral strategies presented will aim to reduce inner distress and provide symptom relief. While Dr. Hill is proficient in numerous …protocols for specific issues (e.g., depression, anger, PTSD, insomnia), your uniqueness demands an eclectic approach. “Don’t waste your limited energy and finite time on the negativity in life. You are neither crazy, weak, nor alone. You can have a better quality of life by taking direct action to cope with your problems. No judgment; just understanding. Be cool! Remember: I keep secrets for a living,” says Dr. Hill. “To loosely paraphrase a Chinese proverb, the hardest part of a journey of a thousand miles is scheduling the first appointment. Life can be horribly unfair, and we all need psychological support. Seeking ‘mental health services’ takes tremendous strength, and I commend you, and am honored to help you, help yourself. The empathy experienced in therapy will allow you to experience relief, feel understood, develop personal insight, reduce distress, increase cognitive clarity, and demonstrate resilience in the face of adversity. To feel differently, you must think differently and behave differently. Schedule the appointment; this initial action can be the first step to a better quality of life!”
