Dr. Steven Joseph Montante, MD

Dr. Steven J. Montante is a board certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and is the newest associate at Richmond Aesthetic Surgery. Dr. Montante was born and raised in West Pittston, PA. As a 4th grader at Luzerne Avenue Elementary, he developed a keen interest in science that quickly blossomed into a desire to pursue a career in medicine. From that time forth, he set his sights on achieving his dream. He attended a Jesuit prep school, the Scranton Preparatory School, where he received a classical liberal education. At Scranton Prep, he studied Latin and classical Greek, literature, as well as science. His education at the Prep fueled his interest in science as well as classical aesthetics and artistry that would later shape his professional career. The school motto of “Ad Altiora Natus” – born for higher things – has become a life-guiding principle that has directed his professional and personal life.
After his formative years at Scranton Prep, Dr. Montante attended …another Jesuit institution, the University of Scranton. As an undergraduate, he majored in biology with a focus in cellular and molecular biology. He engaged in several research projects that involved applying molecular techniques to answer various question concerning animal population biology. During his undergraduate studies, he was selected as an undergraduate research fellow at the prestigious Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, ME. In addition to his interests in science, Dr. Montante was fascinated with both classical and modern philosophy, studying the works of Plato as well as Nietzsche. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor and Philosophy.
Upon matriculation from the University of Scranton in 1991, Dr. Montante began his undergraduate medical education at the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine, which is regularly ranked one of the top 20 medical schools in the country. As a medical student, he excelled in his basic science and clinical coursework. He was awarded the Dr. Richard J. Behan Prize for Outstanding Performance in Surgery, and he participated in research projects in one of the laboratories affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh’s world-renowned solid organ transplant program.
