Dr. Subramanian Malaisamy, MD

Dr. Malaisamy, MD, a board-certified pulmonologist, is associated with Bon Secours Pulmonary Specialists in Portsmouth, Va. Dr. Malaisamy sees patients with pulmonary and critical care problems, and has a special interest in patients with sarcoidosis, interstitial lung diseases, lung cancer and bronchoscopy with ultrasound (EBUS).
Dr. Malaisamy holds both a bachelor of medicine and a bachelor of surgery from Madras Medical College in Madras, India. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Yale University in Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, Conn., and has a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care from Wayne State University, Detroit Medical Center, in Detroit, Mich.
Dr. Malaisamy completed much of his postgraduate training, including studies in internal medicine, geriatric medicine, cardiology and neurology, at various hospitals in the United Kingdom. He is a current member of the Royal College of Physicians in London, and holds the prestigious diploma MRCP in general …medicine.
Dr. Malaisamy is board certified by the American Board of Critical Care Medicine, the American Board of Pulmonary Medicine and the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the American Thoracic Society, the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Medical Association and the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin.
Prior to joining Bon Secours, Dr. Malaisamy was in private practice in Fort Worth, Texas, in pulmonary and critical care medicine. Prior to that, he was a faculty member in pulmonary and critical care at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Va.
