Dr. Sudhir Rao is the Medical Director of Pain and Spine Specialists, a premiere pain management practice in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. As the medical director, Dr. Rao leads a team of highly specialized and skilled physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners.
Dr. Rao earned his Bachelor of Sciences in Bio-Psychology from the University of Michigan. He obtained his Medical Doctorate from St. George’s University School of Medicine. Through his internship in Internal Medicine at Greater Baltimore Medical Center, he learned a great deal about the pathophysiology of the human body. As a Fellow at Mt. Sinai College of Medicine Dr. Rao specialized in Interventional Pain Medicine. He went on to work as an assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine educating other fellows and residents.
He feels honored that he was able to work at Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood, Texas and support members of the armed forces and military veterans. …Dr. Rao assisted in enhancing and elevating the pain clinic designated for active-duty soldiers with war-related chronic pain symptoms. He was the first to introduce the use of the spinal cord stimulator as an effective pain management technique. The spinal cord stimulation therapy was an immediate success at Ford Hood, and treated many chronic neuropathic pain patients.
Dr. Rao started the Pain and Spine Specialists practice in 2012 and has expanded to over 20 locations throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Dr. Rao opened this practice to devote his medical talent towards superior patient care. Dr. Rao, his clinical staff and all members of the Pain and Spine Specialists practice strive to always provide a patient-centered environment that supports each individual in their health journeys.
