BELIEFS
Dr. Herberger believes every person is an individual. He treats every patient with that in mind. Dr. Herberger performs all chairside work that is done on his patients. He feels that the removal of permanent teeth in growing individuals to solve orthodontic problems can be avoided (there are a few exceptions). Ideally a child should begin treatment while they are still growing and before the last deciduous (baby) teeth are lost. The patient will have a more stable correction at the end of treatment that will last. Dr. Tom’s father, Dr. Robert J. Herberger, practiced for over 35 years with the same philosophy. The results have been outstanding. It is the doctors goal to provide you and your family with the best orthodontic care possible.
BACKGROUND
Dr. Thomas Herberger was born and raised in Elyria. After finishing his predental training at the University of Kentucky he received a dental degree (DDS) at Ohio State University. He received …his postdoctoral training at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Upon graduating he received his class’s highest award for clinical research. In the fall of 1987 he passed the first part of the Board testing process to be certified by the American Board of Orthodontics. In January of 1995 he was accepted in to the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists, a highly regarded scientific and research oriented society whose members are admitted only by invitation, testing and contribution of original research in orthodontics. As of 2010 only twelve orthodontists are members in the state of Ohio.
PERSONAL INTERESTS
Dr. Herberger’s interests, out side of orthodontics, are bicycle riding ( he rode his bike across the United States in the summer of 1979), computers, flying and community service. He is an active member of the Elyria Rotary Club and the Lorain County Dental Society.
