Dr. Thomas J. Montgomery is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in total joint replacement and sports medicine who has been in practice in Lafayette, Louisiana for over 20 years. As a graduate of Lafayette High School and the University of Southwestern Louisiana, he has strong ties to this community. He obtained his medical degree from Louisiana State University in Shreveport, finishing in the top five percent of his graduating class. He went on to do his residency in orthopedic surgery at University of Mississippi, receiving the coveted Charles S. Neer II Award from the Society of Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons. He also did a limited A.O. European Trauma Fellowship in Graz, Austria and Interlochen, Switzerland.
He is fellowship trained in Adult Reconstructive Surgery and Sports Medicine. He did his fellowship at the Center for Hip and Knee Surgery in Indianapolis, Indiana, He has authored and co-authored research articles that have appeared in nationally and …internationally published medical journals such as Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, The American Journal of Knee Surgery Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, Ortho Review and Journal of Mississippi State Medical Association. Additionally, he has made a number of national professional presentations at orthopedic symposia and conferences.
He married his high school sweetheart, Deidre Delhomme, and they have four children, Forrest, Madison, Carver and Oakley.
He is very active in the community and serves on the Board of Park Place Surgery Center, Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center and The Miles Perret Cancer Center. He and his family participate in the Miles Perret Games of Acadiana Fundraiser by sponsoring the face painting booth annually.
He is a team physician for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, volunteering his time for physicals as well as treating athletes on and off the sidelines. He also treats many local high school athletes in the Acadiana area.
Dr. Montgomery prides himself in staying abreast of the newest techniques and latest technology in orthopedic surgery and most importantly, providing excellent orthopedic care to all of his patients.
