Dr. Tom H. Sun is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has been in practice in Texas since 1994. He is a comprehensive ophthalmologist who specializes in cataract surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Texas Medical Association, and the Harris County Medical Association.
Dr. Sun was born in Taiwan and moved to Thailand at age 5. He spent six years in Thailand and then came to the United States at age 11. He finished his primary school years in New Jersey, where he graduated Valedictorian of his high school class. He went to college on a full academic scholarship at the Cooper Union School of Engineering in New York City, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. He returned to New Jersey for his medical degree at University of Medicine and Dentistry of N.J., Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He completed his ophthalmology residency in New York at Nassau County Medical Center and Stony Brook …University Hospital.
Dr. Sun’s guiding philosophy throughout his career is a simple one: treat your patients like you would like to be treated.
Dr. Sun is happily married to his wife Jean. They have 2 children, Kevin and Francesca, both of whom attended The University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Sun’s hobbies include exercise, travel, golf, and lifelong learning about medicine, history, and philosophy.
