Dr. Vernon Roger Benson, MD

Dr. Benson has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota and a medical degree from University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. He completed his internship at Bethesda Lutheran Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, following by a residency in Pathology at Brooke General Hospital at Fort Sam Houston, Texas during his military service with the US Army Medical Corps. He was subsequently stationed at Fort McPherson in Atlanta, Georgia where he was Chief of Pathology.
Dr. Benson returned to the University of Minnesota’s Veterans Administration Hospital in Minneapolis to complete his residency in Internal Medicine and also served as Chief Resident in 1970.
He practices Internal Medicine and serves as Director of iMED’s onsite laboratory. Dr. Benson’s numerous professional appointments include serving as Chief of Staff at Methodist Stone Oak Hospital where the V. Benson Pavilion is named in his honor.
Proud to be treating four generations of patients in his …practice, Dr. Benson says there is tremendous satisfaction in providing care to patients over the long term.
He is board certified in Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. His other professional affiliations include the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association and Bexar County Medical Society.
