Dr. Wayne Hickory

Wayne B. Hickory, D.M.D. M.D.S.
Dr. Hickory is a graduate of Trinity College (B.S.) Connecticut. He earned a master’s degree (M.S.) in nutritional science at Boston University, School of Graduate Dentistry. At the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Hickory completed the Doctorate of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) and the three-year postdoctoral program in orthodontics (Orth. Cert.) and Masters of Dental Science (M.D.S.).
Originally in a career in orthodontic research and teaching, Dr. Hickory was a full-time faculty member of the Orthodontic Department at the University of Amsterdam and the University of Maryland. Dr. Hickory has over 25 years of experience in orthodontic practice and continues to consult in orthodontic practices and teach orthodontic courses to dentists and orthodontists throughout the World.
Dr. Hickory’s practice is a unique blend of highly personalized care and ultra cutting-edge technology. The personalized care is exemplified by the …all-private-room facility. The practice is a world leader in digital orthodontics. Treatment is routinely performed on a 3D computer models from which orthodontic treatment systems are manufactured, such as aligners or robotically formed wires. Dr. Hickory was one of the first orthodontists in America to use Invisalign®, SureSmileâ„¢, OrthoCad and Incognitoâ„¢. He was an original member of the Alpha Group and Speakers Bureau of Align Technology. He is still the largest user of Invisalign® in the world.
Dr. Hickory is certified in Wilckodontics which speeds up orthodontics to be four times faster with more esthetic results and far less need for extraction.
Special Interests
Dr. Hickory has a special interest in giving orthodontic courses internationally and in hosting doctors from Europe and Asia for advanced courses.
The recent restoration of the 100-year-old building that houses the practice at R Street has provided a creative outlet. In his free time, Dr. Hickory enjoys swimming, tennis and travel.
