Dr. William Dean Hunter, MD

At Neuroscience and Spine Center of the Carolinas, LLP, (NSSC) a neurosurgery practice based in Gastonia, NC, (in the Charlotte, NC area) preventing and providing relief for back pain, spinal and movement disorders is their specialty.
This group of five Board Certified and/or Board eligible neurosurgeons are: Steven Gudeman, MD; William Hunter, MD; Michaux Kilpatrick, MD, PhD; Suhas Pai, MD; and Sivalingam Siva, MD. Other providers in the practice are Mike Bergin, PA-C; Alissa Carter, ANP-C and Camille Pruitt, PA-C.
The NSSC scope of service includes diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of a variety of disorders including lower back pain, neck pain, brain and spinal cord tumors, ruptured discs and movement disorders. Procedures performed are stereotactic neurosurgery, minimally invasive surgical spinal procedures, spinal fusion with and without instrumentation, image-guided brain biopsy, carpal tunnel surgery, implantation of nerve and spinal cord stimulators, deep brain …stimulation, epidural steroid injections and other pain relieving procedures.
Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) is the newest procedure available in Gaston County and provided by NSSC. DBS is an innovative surgical option for select patients with Parkinsons disease, essential tremor, dystonia and other movement disorders.
The practice offers leading edge options in the treatment of degenerative disorders such as herniated discs, trauma and reconstructive procedures of the spine and microdisectomy.
Additionally, the practice provides Independent Medical Evaluations and services for work-related and personal injuries.
Founded in 1998 in Gaston County, Neuroscience & Spine Center of the Carolinas has expanded to offices in Belmont, Charlotte, Hickory and Shelby in addition to the Gastonia location.
