“I chose to specialize in Gastroenterology because although in residency I had many interests, when looking at a career I wanted to have fun and enjoy my work. GI was the most enjoyable area that I encountered. Some recognitions I have received in my career include the following: During medical school I gained membership to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society in addition to receiving Honors in Basic Sciences. During my fellowship, I served as Clinical Instructor of Medicine/ Gastroenterology, and in 1988 I received the prestigious Lawlor Award for Best Scientific Paper from the American College of Gastroenterology. In 2013, I was awarded the Patterson-Nelson Award by the TSGE for lifetime service to gastroenterology in Texas. I have been listed as one of Texas Monthlys Top Doctors in Texas for eight consecutive years.In my spare time, my wife and I raise competition level alpacas. We also love to travel, spend time with family, and grow bonsai trees.”
