Yukiko Kimura, M.D., is the division chief and a board-certified pediatric rheumatologist. In addition to clinical care of children, teens and young adults with arthritis, lupus, vasculitis, dermatomyositis and other diseases, she has a special interest in clinical research. She is a national leader of a research network called CARRA (Childhood Arthritis & Rheumatology Research Alliance), which spans over 150 pediatric rheumatology centers across the U.S. and Canada. Dr. Kimura has led the development of the CARRA registry of pediatric rheumatic diseases which has enrolled >10,000 patients and is leading national research studies which are advancing scientific knowledge and improving outcomes in children with rheumatic diseases. She has a clinical and research focus in juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), especially a type called systemic JIA.
