Dr. Alexandra Baluna, MD is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She has trained and worked across a wide variety of settings including Fordham University and the Albert Einstein Student Mental Health Counseling Center. Most Recently, Dr. Baluna was an outpatient psychiatrist at Maimonides Medical Center where she enjoyed teaching and supervising Residents.
Dr. Baluna believes in offering a warm, empathic, nonjudgmental space in order to collaboratively create an individualized treatment plan that takes into account cultural, biological, psychological, and social factors. With a strong interest in therapy, she often implements ego-supportive and insight-oriented therapy during follow up visits.
Dr. Baluna received her medical degree from LSUHC- Shreveport. She completed her psychiatry residency training at Montefiore/Albert-Einstein College of medicine where she served as chief of the C/L service. After completing residency, Dr. Baluna served as Senior …Chief during which time she received the Leo M. Davidoff Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Teaching of Medical Students.
