Dr. Balkrishna Narayanrao Jahagirdar, MD

I completed my initial medical training from the King Edward Memorial Hospital in Mumbai, India, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine from University of Illinois, Chicago, where I was inducted into the Alpha-Omega-Alpha Honor Society for outstanding contributions to patient care and medical education.
During my Fellowship in Hematology-Oncology at the University of Minnesota, I worked on developing new adult stem cell treatments for blood diseases and cancers and have been published in high-ranking journals.
I am on the Steering Committee for development of new cancer treatments (Novel Therapeutics) at the North Central Cancer Treatment Group, a national clinical research group sponsored by the National Cancer Institute, based at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, with participating centers throughout the US and Canada.
I am one of the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Society of Clinical Oncology, whose mission is to provide advocacy for cancer patients and to promote …standards of excellence for high-quality cancer care throughout the State of Minnesota.
I am committed to mentoring the next generation of doctors and have been awarded the Clinical Mentor of the Year Award by his trainees on more than one occasion.
