I worked as a nurse aide for three years in long-term residential care and then as a bedside nurse for six years in the inpatient acute care/intensive care hospital setting. I chose to become a nurse practitioner because I wanted to make an even greater impact on the lives and overall wellness of people in my community. My philosophy of care is to find a balance between mental, physical and emotional well-being. To achieve optimum patient outcomes, a practitioner must treat the patient with the disease not the disease alone. I also believe that improving patient education about their specific disease states, health prevention and overall wellness helps to achieve positive patient outcomes and a more balanced and healthy life. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and family. I enjoy hiking, running, horseback riding, biking, boating and off-roading in my jeep. I also enjoy attending sporting events, traveling, cooking and crafting.
