Dr. Chen, a Board-Certified specialist in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology, and Adult Echocardiography, boasts an extensive educational and professional background.
He earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Materials Science and Engineering at MIT, followed by an MD from UCSD and a PhD in Bioengineering from UCLA. His significant contribution as a medical device engineer at Medtronic included pivotal work on the Endeavor and Resolute drug-eluting coronary stents. Dr. Chen’s medical training encompassed an Internship and Residency at UCLA, where he also completed a Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship. Further honing his expertise, he pursued an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center-New York Presbyterian Hospital. This included a specialized second year focused on Structural Heart Disease. His involvement in key TAVR clinical trials during his tenure at Columbia is noteworthy. A regular presenter at leading national and international conferences such as AHA, ACC, and TCT, Dr. Chen has contributed numerous research articles and book chapters, covering a range of topics from Interventional Cardiology to Cardiac Stem Cells. Prior to joining PCA, he was a Clinical Instructor on the Faculty at the esteemed Columbia University Medical Center.
