Dr. D. Aaron Guel, MD

D. Aaron Guel, MD, is a Board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon with AdventHealth Medical Group Cardiology & Cardiovascular Surgery at Shawnee Mission. After earning his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dr. Guel completed a combined general and cardiothoracic surgery residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pennsylvania. He also completed a surgical robotics fellowship through the American Association for Thoracic Surgery Foundation. Before joining AdventHealth in 2022, Dr. Guel worked as a cardiothoracic surgeon at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. Prior to medical school and residency, he served as director of clinical research at Valley Retina Institute in Texas. His administrative appointments have included service as both the research chairman and the event chairman for the United to Serve Annual Health Fair at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Guel enjoys serving his community and has …given his time and expertise to numerous health screenings and topical health fairs. As an undergraduate student, he was involved in a number of activities, including Latinos Unidos, the Cardinal Key National Honor Society and the university’s wind ensemble and orchestra. He speaks fluent Spanish. In his free time, Dr. Guel enjoys trying out new restaurants with his wife and listening to live music.
