Dr. Donald Harrison is a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon (podiatrist). After graduating from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, he completed a comprehensive three-year residency at Drexel University College of Medicine, with an emphasis on sports medicine, reconstructive surgery and diabetic limb salvage of the foot and ankle. Dr. Harrison then joined a prominent Maryland orthopedic group for a period of 4 years before starting the Foot and Ankle Institute of Maryland in 2015. He is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) as well as his National and State level podiatric medical associations APMA and MPMA, respectively. As a former NCAA Division 1 student-athlete and Junior Olympic National Champion in the steeplechase, Dr. Harrison has a true passion for working with athletes both in and out of the office. He serves as a consultant to several high schools and colleges and is on the Medical Staff for several track and field events around the …region. He is currently assistant-head coach of St. John’s College High School in Washington D.C. He holds USATF level-one certification as a track and field coach, and he competes in USAT sanctioned triathlons. On a personal note, Dr. Harrison suffered a plantar fascia rupture while competing in college and went through the rehabilitative process. He is uniquely suited to address, treat and recondition injured youth and adult athletes throughout Maryland, Virginia, and DC.
