Dr. Berens is one of the first U.S. surgeons certified to perform an endoluminal stent-graft repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms. And a leader in the use of atherectomy in peripheral arterial disease in Southern Arizona. Dr. Berens graduated from the University of Arizona Medical School and served as an instructor of vascular surgery at Washington University, completing his vascular surgery fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.He has been in practice in Tucson since 1992 and established the Arizona EndoVascular Center in 2002. Dr. Berens is a leading expert in the newest endovascular techniques, including carotid stenting, and is the principal investigator for clinical research studies involving peripheral arterial disease treatment.
