Dr. Farooq was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan. She obtained her medical degree from one of the most prestigious medical schools in Pakistan, Dow Medical College, before she moved to the USA to pursue a career in Psychiatry. She completed her residency in General Psychiatry at the New York Medical College-Westchester Medical Center located in Valhalla, New York. She is ECFMG Certified and an ongoing member of the American Psychiatric Association.
During her training, Dr. Farooq gained extensive clinical experience in psychiatric inpatient, outpatient, and emergency care settings where she had the opportunity to treat and learn from a diversity of patient population.
Dr. Farooq believes in a friendly, collaborative, and patient-centered approach to build a strong therapeutic alliance with her patients. Dr. Farooq’s practice focuses on medication management with a combination of supportive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing techniques to achieve …patient-care goals.
