I have had the pleasure of practicing in Columbus since 1986. During that time I have had approximately 170000 office visits. I am currently Chief of Medicine at St. Francis Hospital. I have been Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Doctors Hospital (now closed), Midtown Medical Center, and St. Francis. I was Chief of Staff of Doctors Hospital in 1994 and 1995. I am the Past President of the Muscogee County Medical Society.
I enjoy my work immensely. I strive to do the best with each visit that I have. As a result, sometimes I get behind but am still sensitive to the delay that frequently occurs. I have a subspecialty in Geriatrics. Older people have more complex issues and take longer to explain and understand. But I still work from daybreak to around 8-9 at night.
I also strive to pass on my knowledge to the next generation. I am an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Mercer School of Medicine and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Georgia Campus. This …year I will mentor 13 medical students. I also mentor Nurse Practitioner students from Troy University, Columbus State University, University of the South, and University of South Alabama.
I am also one of the few primary care physicians that still admit and take care of my own patients at the hospital, rather than turning the care over to a stranger who has no knowledge of the patient. Above all, I may not be the best, but I strive to be my best.
