Dr. James L. Smith, Jr. is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and fellowship-trained spine surgeon in practice since 1989. He sees patients at the Northwest Austin and Central Austin offices of Texas Orthopedics.
Dr. Smith attended the University of Texas in Austin for his undergraduate education. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in 1983. Dr. Smith completed his orthopedic residency training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and performed his fellowship training in spine surgery at Baylor College of Medicine and the University of British Columbia.
In addition to his board certification for orthopedic surgery, Dr. Smith is certified by the American Board of Spine Surgery. He is a member of the North American Spine Society and a past president of the Texas Spine Society.
